“There are some of the actions that will be featured,” said Director Richard D. Lanni, who recently toured America with his latest film The Americans On D-Day. “Veterans of the campaign will add to excitement of the battlefield tour, which continues to chart the American forces advance from D-Day to VE (Victgory in Europe) day .”
Lanni plans to use the same battle tour host and talent of the first film, Ellwood von Seibold, who grew up with a dream of giving tours of Normandy as a kid.
"I feel privileged to have this opportunity to present these tours, which help people understand just what these valiant soldiers went through" said Seibold who has been hired by WW2 Reflections to present the whole series.
WW2 Reflections recently filmed the entire St. Mere Eglise ceremonies on the 65th Anniversary of D-Day, where the French Government handed out medal of valor and recognized soldiers for one of the worst battles in War history.
The tour film will also illustrate the daylight drop zones, the bridges that were taken and held, and the famous Waal river crossing of the 504 p.i.rin an action packed educational project. Veteran interviews will add to excitement of the battlefield tour, which continues to chart the American forces advance from D-Day to Victory in Europe Day (VE Day).
Earlier this year, the premiere of The Americans on D-Day was shown at the American Legion Post 43 in Hollywood, CA, where all the military dignitaries involved in the film and who provided testimony in the first film series provided more stories of valor.
The American Legion has posted exclusive footage Online filmed by WW2 Reflections, Dublin, Ireland, of the 65th anniversary ceremonies of D-Day in St. Mere Eglise, Normandy, France. (http://tinyurl.com/lx6gvk)
At the epicenter of D-Day anniversary activities each year is the small town of Ste. Mere Eglise, made famous by the 1962 hit movie "The Longest Day." Each year, even today, veterans, historians, tourists and re-enactors swarm to the Normandy town to see history come alive. Active-duty paratroopers jump from C-130s in the countryside surrounding the town. Parades, wreath-laying ceremonies and activities at the town's AirborneMuseum.
The stars of the world's largest production - a film on the invasion of Normandy, "The Americans on D-Day," premiered in the French language earlier this year. (May 07, 2007.) Several hundred local officials, visiting military dignitaries and stars of the film attended.
"We decided to show it in St. Mere Eglise, Normandy, because it was the first town to be liberated," explained Richard D. Lanni, film director, WW2 Reflections, Dublin, Ireland. "We are thrilled with The American Legion's support, endorsement and now posting of our historical recordings of the French government ceremonies honoring veterans for those heroic days."
In April, about 100 people saw the film in Hollywood at the American Legion Post #43, Hollywood, CA. "It was well done, and the reproduction of the Normandy scenes were pretty darn powerful, and the overlays of graphics were very good," said Adj. Finance Officer Terry Duddy, American Legion Hollywood Post 43. "It was well received by our members attending here. We have posted a link for DVD sales, and five dollars goes to paralyzed veterans on each film sale on our website (http://tinyurl.com/mcnh9v).

The Post will, in turn, offer these for sale as a fund raiser. Also under consideration is to approach American Legion Posts throughout the State of Georgia and offer the DVD for purchase.
In addition, we feel as though this may prove beneficial as an educational tool to enlighten students on events of WWII. We plan to contact Atlanta area schools to offer these, at no charge, for their use. Other educational applications are currently being discussed." Film Director, Richard D. Lanni, (www.theamericansondday.com).
Ellwood Von Siebold had been collecting military vehicles and militaria for 20 years and a few years ago moved to Sainte Mere Eglise, from where he started offering tours around the battlefields. He wanted to take his passion for D Day to another level and embarked upon a remarkable project.
In as much secrecy as the real Normandy landings, Ellwood filmed, presented and produced a very different documentary which is released on May 8th. He takes us on a comprehensive tour of the US landing areas in his Dodge Command Car. But this is no “amateur enthusiasts” project, this is a highly professional and innovative film.
“….The boys from Easy Company came right through this hedge….” says our intrepid presenter as he struggles his way through a medieval hedgerow, fully equipped as a paratrooper. With endless costume changes, we are given detailed insights into what happened on precise spots - the film actually being made at the right time of day for even greater effect.
“….This is scary – you have got to be young, fit or stupid to do this in the face of determined resistance….”says Ellwood as he appears dressed as a breathless Ranger, scrambling over the top of the cliffs at Point du Hoc. This is how history needs to be portrayed – it’s visual, exciting and very informative.
With innovative graphics and use of original footage – much of which is rare and unseen, Ellwood interviews veterans to tell their stories of the invasion. It is well planned, superbly narrated and Ellwood’s enigmatic presentation style makesThe Americans on D Dayan unmissablefilm for both the serious enthusiast or those with just a casual interest.
Saving Private Ryan spearheaded a new genre of high quality war films and without doubtThe Americans on D Dayhas set a new benchmark for documentaries.
If you want to get the bes t from your Normandy visit, this film will make a huge difference and take you to places you could otherwise miss. But it doesn’t stop at the end of D Day – the extra features on the DVD include Ellwood’s special features on the weapons, uniforms and equipment the GI’s used and an insight into how the film was made. The Americans on D Dayis truly outstanding. If you would like to go the premiere call MAYO 818-340-5300 this week. FILM TRAILER (HERE)

in Normandy on June 6, 1944.
"I've seen a lot of tour videos that purport to give viewers an insight into
what gallant Americans endured and accomplished on D-Day, but this one
really hits the mark," Dye said.

elsewhere to premiere film free to all American Legions in USA
“I grew up in the early 1950’s, and I have always been fascinated
by the second World War,” said Ellwood von Seibold, battlefield guide of Americans
on D-Day S, the first battlefield tour film of WW2-Reflections, a division of Labyrinth
Media & Publishing Ltd. of Dublin, Ireland. Labyrinth specializes in WW2 battlefield
tour DVDs for the U.S. market. "The Americans on D-Day" coincides with the 65th
anniversary of D-Day and the Normandy invasion.“D-Day became a focus point of
my interest, and I decided to live a dream and move to France and take people all
around these areas,” explained Seibold. “And the producer and director of
WW2-Reflections said ‘why don’t we put one of your tours on film in Normandy.”
Seibold noted that WW2-Reflections had assembled a remarkable and accurate
collection of soldier’s testimony, stories and witnesses who survived one of
America’s most bloody battles in war history. Siebold, donning American and
sometimes German uniforms, hops into an early model Army Jeep much like
General George Patton rode in as he walks you visually shows and tells you
what brave soliders endured.
The film uses smart graphics and extensive use of veterans' recollections, as well as invaluable assistance from Dale Dye, a retired U.S. Marine captain who founded Warriors, Inc. – which specializes in training actors for war-themed
film and television productions. Dye was in France researching an upcoming
film project and worked with Siebold on historical accuracy.
"We are thrilled that he has supported this tour film," Producer Richard Lanni said.
"The Americans On D-Day provides an exciting insight into one of the most pivotal
events of the 20th century,” said Captain Dye. “I'm really proud to have a hand in this
effort to provide a foxhole-level view of what happened in Normandy on June 6, 1944."
"I've seen a lot of tour videos that purport to give viewers an insight into what gallant
Americans endured and accomplished on D-Day, but this one really hits the mark.
The Americans On D-Day provides a stirring, GI-level look at one of the most momentous
battles of World War II," explained Dye.
On the trailer for the tour film Dye said, “I am a big fan of Normandy Tour Guide and
Historian Ellwood von Seibold, who takes you for a ride in his 1943 Dodge Command
Jeep for the D-Day landings in the real time, you’ll see the uniforms they wore and the
weapons they used.”
"If you can't afford a trip to tour the battlefields of Normandy, just get a copy of The
Americans On D-Day and you'll get a stirring look at events that changed the course
of World War II in Europe. Ellwood von Seibold knows his history and how to present
it to people in an exciting, understandable fashion. The insights and revelations in this
work are extremely valuable to everyone interested in military history."
"We wanted to show a snapshot of that 'Day of Days' through the individual soldier's eye,"
Lanni said. "Ellwood, who is an incredible 62-year-old, who put on all the different uniforms,
allowed he to be suspended on a rope ladder over a cliff, ran out of the freezing water on
Omaha Beach at 6.30 a.m., crawled through hedgerows and shinned up trees."
The production shot its first interviews in 2007 with Howard Manoian, a veteran of the
U.S. Army 82nd Airborne who landed in Normandy on D-Day and returned many years
later to live in the country that he helped liberate.
"With the addition of archive footage and stills we have turned this interview into a short
biographical documentary under the title of 'A Soldier's Journey,' which we also hope to
launch for the 65th anniversary, " Lanni said.
